Review - Mega Man X: The Day of Sigma

So I was bored, and had just watched this one episode OVA I had downloaded, and thought I'd review it. I doubt there's many (if any) reviews of it online, so maybe I'll get some website hits ;)

Mega Man X - The Day of Sigma is based on the Super Nintendo game Mega Man X (surprise). The story explains the events that happen right before the game begins. It is featured as a bonus on the remake of the game for PlayStation Portable (titled Mega Man Maverick Hunter X). I just downloaded it.

The story starts with some familiar characters such as Sigma, Zero, and Chill Penguin, fighting off a machine gone Maverick (going crazy or evil instead of functioning peacefully). X (Mega Man) appears out of the sky and starts pwning the thing, but it grabs an ally and X is hesitant to take the shot. Sigma ends up finishing him off.

As the story progresses, you find why X is so special, and why Sigma (and others) turned Maverick. You also learn why the city is in ruins. As someone who has put a small portion of time into Mega Man X, it was quite interesting. It shouldn't be confusing to someone unfamiliar, but the ending will seem terrible (as I said, it's explains the beginning of the game).

Sub vs Dub = I downloaded it, and it was the dub. The voice actors did a fine job, though they wern't memorable. Most of them were pretty obscure. I assume the sub version would probably be good, too.

Content = Content? Rated G. A very clean show with high action but low violence, and no language or blood. NOTHING sexual. It's based off an old SNES game, for goodness sakes.

Sound = Didn't pay much attention. No OP or ED (they don't waste their time for one episode).

Adaptions = Well, there's no manga, and I'm not gonna cover the HUMONGOUS world of Mega Man games. There's a Mega Man anime series, but from what I've heard, it sucks. And Mega Man and Mega Man X are two different stories.

In Summary: If you've played or are interested in Mega Man, this is a nice and short little adventure to watch. It doesn't have a great ending, but it's the very beginning of a bigger story.
